Being in business since 1991 we have seen many things in the plumbing heating cooling business come and go. Looking back we take alot of pride in trying to challenge ourselves to try new ways of doing things. Time marches on and our customers expect more, and deserve more.

True value comes when the work is done correctly the first time.Tools and equipment can really make a difference in quality. We core drill all our holes in brick and block for furnace pipes exiting through walls refrigeration line kits etc. No big mortar patches much faster and very finished and professional look.

Training ,its great to have technicians that are well rounded but the devils is in the details. Training and sitting down and reading the manufactures installation instructions helps insure customer satisfaction. Trail and error is old school and not acceptable.

Something as common as a humidifier can make such a difference in a customers daily life. Today we received a call from a customer that has respiratory problems. We installed a Trane # 500 power humidifier in there home this fall. There house they said is night and day different from last year. No static shock no dry skin no dry mouth or nose bleeds .

We unlike most companies hook the humidifier to the hot water line. The water vaporizes much easier and faster and there is much less water waste and according to the customer has saved alot of money on there gas bill. Proper humidity levels eliminated the cold clammy feel and has allowed them to lower there thermostat 4-6 degrees.

Its nice to get a call out of the blue with such good positive feed back. Our customers have always been our best teacher helping us perfect our craft. Providing a higher standard of health and comfort and saving the customer money at the same time, what could be better.

Miller plumbing heating cooling has been on a quest to go green with heat pumps instead of old style air conditioning units. We have saved customers alot of energy dollars and have raised the level of comfort at the same time. Keep posted we have new ways to save money and go green.

Miller Plumbing Heating Cooling specializes in add on or (dual fuel) heat pumps. When you are ready to replace your straight air conditioner or furnace there are many more reasons to buy a heat pump instead of a straight air conditioner besides energy savings. Everyone with a builder grade system or a system 15 years or older first off should take advantage of the 30% tax credit that ends this year.

A heat pump can be added to a new or existing furnace. Heat pumps heat your home in the winter and provide a backup source of heat if the gas service goes out or if your furnace needs serviced. This will save your pipes from freezing and you from vacating your home until your furnace is working again. Also because a heat pump will run longer than the shorter cycles of a furnace the temperature in the structure is more even and your filter gets more time to do its job.

If sized properly your furnace should maintain 70 degrees on a zero degree day, in Pittsburgh this happens only 2-5 percent of the heating season which means your furnace is over sized 95-98 percent of the year. Over sized furnaces cause short heating cycles, temperature stratification and the gas furnace hotter air drys out the air and removes humidity that makes your home more comfortable in winter months.

Heat pumps usually last longer than regular A/C units. Most compressors fail the start of each cooling season after sitting all winter. Running the compressor keeps the compressor lubricated. You would not expect your car to sit half the year unused and expect it to run or last longer, dead batteries rusted rotors and other problems would surely be expected.

Having a heat pump www.millerplumbingheatingcooling.com/heatpumps.htm lets you choose your utility of choice. Also your local utility company may provide rebates or lower rates for heat pump customers. Why deny yourself the benefits of change, the more we install heat pumps and get the positive feed back from our many customers the more we try to help other customers benefit.

When buying high efficiency HVAC equipment you must look past the brochure and find a dealer that knows the facts. Everyone wants to save money on there utility bills and purchase equipment that has a good rating but don’t let the brochure or a fancy sales man fool you into paying for extra efficiency you will never get.

Miller Plumbing Heating Cooling knows the facts about getting the best value when upgrading your old system. Here are a few quick tips to keep in mind.

1. High efficiency boilers are great for saving money on your gas bill. However when the water temperature is over 140 degrees as with cast iron radiators or cooper fin tube it is very hard to get over 90% AFUE. The lower the water temperature the higher the efficiency.

2.High efficiency forced air furnaces need to be sized correctly to get the rated efficiency. Bigger is not always better. A high efficiency furnace that short cycles and dose not condence because the furnace is over sized wastes money.

3. Air conditioners and heat pumps are sold based on there SEER rating the higher the number the less electricity it uses.

Right -WRONG. When installing a new furnace matching the correct A-Coil line kit and outdoor unit it is easy to get 13 / 14 SEER.

However just because the out door unit is rated at 15 SEER or above it is almost impossible to reach that efficiency level unless the furnace or air handler has a variable speed blower. Infact 15 SEER and above out door units can be less efficient than standard equipment when not matched with the proper indoor unit.

The heat wave that hit Pittsburgh this April was the straw that broke the back of many old central air conditioners. Miller Plumbing Heating Cooling recommends replacing your old air conditioner with a heat pump.

Heat pumps look and work the same as a central air conditioner in the summer but have one major advantage. In the winter they pump free heat from the air outside (Latent Heat) into your home. A 13 seer heat pump will provide 3kw of heat for every 1 kw used to run the heat pump. Higher seer units save even more electricity.

With the use of a dual fuel thermostat your existing gas furnace will provide backup heat when needed on those really cold days. The thermostat helps you pick the utility that will be the most cost effective on any given day ELECTRIC/ GAS similar to a hybrid car saves money and better for the environment.

Customers who have water heaters that are 8 years old or have boilers, furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps that are older than 10 years really need to look hard at this new tax credit. Not only is this old equipment out of warranty but is vary inefficient compared to equipment that is eligible for the $1500.00 tax credit.

Why heat water 24hours a day 365 days a year. Why have most of the heat you pay for go up the chimney. Why have a large part of the electricity you pay for to cool your home be wasted.

The tax credit lets you update your old equipment, cut future repair and labor costs because of new warranties and even help save the environment and our resources at the same time. Let Miller Plumbing Heating Cooling show you the equipment that qualifies for this generous $1500.00 tax credit.
