Spring rains will soon be here and so will wet basement water problems. Water around your home is very bad for the basement walls and foundation. When water from the roof and gutters backs up under ground or overflows out of the downspouts if saturates the ground and causes the water to infiltrate into your home.

Miller Plumbing Heating Cooling recommends each gutter and down spout be inspected to make sure it is free of debris and connected to the downspout drain. Run a hose down each rain conductor to make sure it drains and is taking water. If the drain backs up it should be snaked or hydro jetted.

Making sure all downspout drains are open will reduce water problems that lead to wet basements bowed walls mold and structural damage.

  One way to help make your home healthier is to install a UV lamp inside your duct work. As air cycles through the duct system the high intensity UV light kills mold, bacteria, viruses and dust mites.
