Miller Plumbing Heating Cooling specializes in add on or (dual fuel) heat pumps. When you are ready to replace your straight air conditioner or furnace there are many more reasons to buy a heat pump instead of a straight air conditioner besides energy savings. Everyone with a builder grade system or a system 15 years or older first off should take advantage of the 30% tax credit that ends this year.
A heat pump can be added to a new or existing furnace. Heat pumps heat your home in the winter and provide a backup source of heat if the gas service goes out or if your furnace needs serviced. This will save your pipes from freezing and you from vacating your home until your furnace is working again. Also because a heat pump will run longer than the shorter cycles of a furnace the temperature in the structure is more even and your filter gets more time to do its job.
If sized properly your furnace should maintain 70 degrees on a zero degree day, in Pittsburgh this happens only 2-5 percent of the heating season which means your furnace is over sized 95-98 percent of the year. Over sized furnaces cause short heating cycles, temperature stratification and the gas furnace hotter air drys out the air and removes humidity that makes your home more comfortable in winter months.
Heat pumps usually last longer than regular A/C units. Most compressors fail the start of each cooling season after sitting all winter. Running the compressor keeps the compressor lubricated. You would not expect your car to sit half the year unused and expect it to run or last longer, dead batteries rusted rotors and other problems would surely be expected.
Having a heat pump www.millerplumbingheatingcooling.com/heatpumps.htm lets you choose your utility of choice. Also your local utility company may provide rebates or lower rates for heat pump customers. Why deny yourself the benefits of change, the more we install heat pumps and get the positive feed back from our many customers the more we try to help other customers benefit.

Miller Plumbing heating Cooling specializes in hot water heating systems. When replacing a boiler many things need to be considered. Many companies will give a customer a estimate for a updated version of there old system. Why deny yourself the benefits of a change. Now until December 31, 2010 there is a 30% tax credit on hot water boilers 90% afue efficient and above.
We use Quietside boilers www.millerplumbingheatingcooling.com/boilers.htm . There are many benefits to use the Quietside boiler 12 year heat exchanger warranty, 5 year parts and labor warranty along with the tax credit. The boiler is small hangs on the wall and vents through the wall with pvc pipe. Your old chimney is a potential safety hazard also any product vented into a chimney is less efficient and will need a chimney liner to bring the chimney up to code, this is a additional cost not needed when venting through the wall.
We update the thermostat it lights up when touched has large easy to read numbers and cycles perfectly with the Quietside boiler. The gas and wiring are updated at the boiler all the piping at the boiler is updated and piped in using a primary/secondary arrangement which is required by most manufacturers. Our boiler also has standard the ability to also heat your domestic hot water, which means you can get rid of your old inefficient tank type water heater.
Our boiler is very quiet will save a lot of floor space will eliminate the need for a tank type water heater and eliminates the need for outdated chimneys also it saves 30% over other boilers in cost because of the tax credit and will put more money in your pocket each month because of the lower gas bill and no repair costs.

Happy new year. 2009 was a record year for Miller Plumbing Heating and Cooling. Making sure the customer gets true value and great service is our main focus.Earning and maintaining our customers trust is a top concern.
One year end job comes to mind. A young couple had no heat and needed a repair on a 20 plus year old furnace to get it up and running. One option is to make the repair but looking at the big picture saved this customer upfront and long term.
The customers have a high gas bill, the furnace is 20 plus years and in average condition for its age, evevthough repairing it my gain another year lets take a closer look. The repair will cost money the replacement parts are outdated and can only work on this old furnace, there are more old parts that can fail.
Delaying replacement will take away the gas saving that is real money they could use for other expenses takes away the lifetime heat exchanger warranty 10 year parts warranty and 5 year labor warranty. But the customer looses 30% tax credit that will not benefit them in 2011.
The furnace repair plus the lost tax credit savings proved to make repairing this old furnace a bad long term decision. Needless to say the customers are very happy saving gas and now have peace of mind that there are no repair costs for a long time.
